A Legacy of Innovation and Global Expansion

Odawara Automation, Inc. was founded in 1971 by Kenneth Ott as Ott-A-Matic. In 1986, it was acquired by Odawara Engineering Co., LTD. of Japan and renamed Odawara Automation, Inc. Since then, Odawara Engineering has expanded its global market share. Odawara Automation represents Odawara Engineering in North America and is part of the Odawara Group, with Odawara Engineering as the parent company.

The Odawara Group dates back to the 1950s, founded as Odawara Machine Works. The group today has several locations and serves customers throughout the world.

1971

Ott-A-Matic Winders Founded in Huber Heights, Ohio.

1986

Odawara Engineering of Japan purchases a controlling interest in Ott-A-Matic Winders. The company name is changed to Odawara Automation, Inc.

1990

Odawara Automation builds a new facility in Tipp City, Ohio. 18,000 sq ft manufacturing and 10,000 sq ft engineering space.

1995

Odawara Automation expands the Tipp City facility by an additional 12,000 sq ft of manufacturing space.

1996

Odawara Engineering purchases remaining shares of Odawara Automation, becomes 100% owner of Odawara Automation.

1996

Chris Spejna becomes President of Odawara Automation.

2020

Brendan T. O’Connor becomes President of Odawara Automation.
